  • Maria Tarre, also known as Miss Mia by countless young children and parents alike, began having interest in newborns back in her native Sweden, when her 14 years younger brother was born severely premature. Ms. Tarre worked briefly with the San Diego Humane Society before embarking on her career in the newborn, infant and child care field. Maria has run child care centers and worked as a professional nanny in Southern California for close to 20 years. Since 1998 she has assisted new parents in adjusting to life with baby. Maria has over 3000 hours of hands on experience assisting new mothers with breastfeeding issues and also providing care for multiples and preemies. As a nanny, Ms. Tarre applies her passion for music, art and theatre when spending time with children. She looks for that same passion and enthusiasm when hiring nannies for A Charmed Life Child Care, Inc. Maria holds a Bachelors Degree from National University in La Jolla, California but her proudest achievement by far is her two children, Olivia and Benjamin who are both pursuing careers in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. Maria now resides in New Orleans where she is happy to share her wealth of information and joy of caring for a child alongside many new parents.

I received my associates degree in Child Development in June of 1998 and then went on to receive another associates degree in Liberal Arts in May of 2000, I then received my Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education Administration in February of 2011, and now I am about to complete my masters program this October 2012 in Special Education. My passion is working with young children watching and helping them grow and prosper into different stages in their young lives. I look at our young children as our future and helping them make their mark in this world that they live in. I have worked with many students with a variety of different disabilities ranging from speech impairment,, dwarfism, autism, spinal bifida, cerebral palsy epilepsy, and asthma. I enjoy watching sports, relaxing, and family time.
  • Daria - New Orleans: If you asked Daria why she has been caring for infants and children for more than 10 years, she would say it's simply because she enjoys spending time with the little ones. "Kids and child development are fascinating to me. Every second I spend watching children and observing their growth, I am constantly learning," she says. Daria has worked with kids of all ages and hopes to some day have a few of her own. She received Bachelor's in Neuroscience and Master's in Public Health degrees from Tulane University with a concentration on Maternal and Child Health. Daria spent the first eighteen years of her life in the Windy City but after seven years in New Orleans, she has hopelessly fallen in love with the charm of the Big Easy. She loves to cook and looks forward to teaching kids healthy eating habits and the importance of adequate exercise. In her spare time, Daria is an avid reader and enjoys biking in Audubon Park.

I have been babysitting since I was eleven and I was a nanny for twelve years. I focused my high school years on academics and athletics that included both playing softball and being a student athletic trainer. On a side note, yes, I can still wrap an ankle! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a minor in Management; I am great at organizing everything from play areas to houses to family schedules.
  • LeAndra - New Orleans: LeAndra Shipps grew up in Springfield, Missouri, and after completing high school she decided to attend Xavier University of Louisiana in 1996 to pursue a medical career. She fell in love with New Orleans and has been connecting with the New Orleans community since. She decided to start her own family in 2002 and put her medical endeavor on hold. She understands "happy parents = happy babies". Thus, LeAndra is now a dedicated nanny, certified birth doula, trained postpartum doula, parent educator and certified kids' yoga instructor. Much experience as a nanny, postpartum doula, and mother of two intelligent children of her own has given LeAndra the ability to provide exceptional care and support for babies and their parents after the babies are born. Her calm, sweet and playful nature give parents and babies the reassurance that they are in good hands, and not just "good" hands but a mother's hands! Miss LeAndra is very resourceful and advocates for healthy birth outcomes and healthy beginnings for parents and babies. LeAndra loves the outdoors, nature, traveling, exploring, using the imagination, doing art and dancing.
  • Michelle - San Diego: Working with children is a definite passion of mine, one I discovered at an early age when I decided to volunteer as a summer camp counselor. I enjoyed my time so much, I spent the next five summers working at that same camp! During the school years, I worked as a sitter for various families, many of whom I'm still in contact with today (14 years later). As an adult, I work part-time with various families while also working full-time as an Executive Assistant. Playing and interacting with children is the absolute highlight of my workweek, so I've decided to make that my career. I'm currently studying to acquire a masters in occupational therapy, so I can play and teach children with disabilities to be more independent. In my free time I like to spend it with my fiancee and dog. I also love to go back frequently to visit family in Miami and brush up on my Spanish while eating Cuban food. If you think I'd be a match for your family, please contact me. I can't wait to meet you!
  • Nadiyah - New Orleans: My name is Nadiyah. I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. My child care experience began in Kaiserslautern, Germany where I attended high school. I began working as a Kindergarten teacher’s assistant. After school and during weekends I provided child care for local military families. I discovered my passion for working with children and decided to study Elementary Education at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. During my time at FMU I worked with several afterschool tutoring and mentoring programs. During college I also took an interest in the political arena and was invited to the White House in Washington D.C. My summers were spent in New Orleans providing child care for local families. After graduating with my Bachelors of Science Degree, I returned to New Orleans and began working as the curriculum and activities coordinator for the West Bank Boys and Girls Club of America. I provided tutoring and homework assistance and planned fun games and activities. I also coached several little league basketball and softball teams. I have been with A Charmed Life Child Care from the start as a newborn care specialist and have provided baby night care for sleep deprived parents. Some of my other interests include sports, travel and film making.
  • Susanna - New Orleans: Susanna is originally from Sweden. She first came to the US as an au-pair working for families in the NYC area. She has since spent the past 18 years being a dedicated mom to her two daughters in addition to assisting many local New Orleans "Charmed Life Families". Miss Sanna especially will help new parents adjust to their newborn. She will often stay the night so that new parents can get some much needed rest. She holds a degree from Huldfeldska School and has attended the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, with an emphasis in Management. Ms. Novick continues to further her education locally. Sanna takes a great interest in the education and support of the breast feeding relationship between mother and child. In her own words "breast feeding is such an important gift to provide for your newborn, even if it is for a short while. That being said, it is also important to realize how much energy it requires, rest and relaxation is crucial in order to make it the best experience possible. I will be there as an extra set of hands and help you reduce the stress and feeling of being overwhelmed. My goal is to ensure that this special time in your life is enjoyable and memorable without feeling the pressure of having to be super-mom or super-dad".
